Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma-Informed Care implementation, support, and sustainability is available for services by Lizzy Pérez, LLC

Due to our passion and expertise, we find it necessary to go deep into the research to become better informed ourselves about the impact of trauma on our children and adults alike. As a result, members have received the following trainings and certifications:

  1. ACE Interface Train the Master Training Program
  2. Trauma-Informed Care Practitioner Certification

To understand Trauma-Informed Care, we must first understand Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). ACEs included on the ACE Questionnaire are:

  • Physical, sexual, and emotional abuse
  • Divorce
  • Domestic violence
  • Parental incarceration
  • Parental death
  • Parental substance abuse
  • Witnessing violence
  • Mental illness in the family

Our team has put their time, energy, passion into the research because we are adamant that if members of our school community and beyond are trained in trauma-informed care, our students will build resiliency, strong relationships, and better health and self-image. Trauma-informed practices have been shown to reduce suspensions and expulsions, and help students feel safe and stay regulated.

These services are for public school districts, public charter schools, and private schools. We aspire to partner with schools to:

  • Help start conversations and create a group and vision
  • Take immediate action and craft systems to identify, track and monitor students
  • Plan for long-term comprehensive trauma sensitivity, and raise awareness
  • Assemble and train a task-force
  • Assess the culture and mindset of the campus stakeholders
  • Educate the chain of command
  • Create a community resource guide and tracking system
  • Provide coaching support to the task force throughout our partnership

One in two latino kids experiences Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) which is referred to as childhood trauma. Children facing trauma at home face higher referrals for behavioral problems, special education, and diagnosis for ADHD, as well as higher rates of suspension, expulsion and being held back.

Our goal is to provide assistance in:

  • Providing Workshops and training to bring awareness to any and all stakeholders within the education sector and beyond
